Dog Treats Made in Kansas City

Natural Dog Treats,
Locally Made with Love

Man’s best friend may be the inspiration behind PawsAbilities products, however, our story began with a human touch. PawsAbilities was born out of a desire to provide meaningful jobs and independence for people with intellectual disabilities in Kansas City.

A Pathway To Greater Independence

Employment is the pathway to independence and helps define one’s place in community life. During training, Paws students learn job skills baking dog treats, sewing dog bandanas, and crafting other products.

Additional skills learned include operating commercial kitchen equipment, operating a cash register, cleaning and janitorial tasks, sewing, baking, packaging, inventory, and customer service. Students get job experience running the Paws retail store and mobile pop-up store which visits local businesses and events.

Educational classes consist of pre-employment skills, such as building resumes, exploring job interests, conducting online job searches, and growing communication skills.

PawsAbilities is showing outstanding results, with individuals successfully retaining community-based jobs over the long term. This success can be correlated with three elements of the program:

Targeted skills training with individualized plans, and pre-employment component

Strategic placement into positions that match individual strengths, preferences, and skills

Providing ongoing support including essential transportation services and job coaching

Pop-Up Store & Events

Many area businesses are supporting PawAbilities by inviting our Mobile Pop-Up Store directly to your office where we set up a table with an array of Paws products for employees to shop. Hosting a PawsAbilities Mobile Pop-Up provides employees with a fun shopping experience for their furry friends while giving back to the community. All proceeds from their purchases support job training and employment for young adults with special needs. For more information, please complete this form.

Our people and our products are popping up everywhere, from farmers markets to festivals, fairs and other special events around the Kansas City Metro area. We carry the same great products, whether we’re staffing an outdoor setting or indoor event. Some of our most popular pop-ups include Johnson County Old Settlers, KC Holiday Boutique and the Holiday Mart.
